Today, the coverage of our nation’s mind-boggling Visa system continues with the so-called Diversity Visa. Congress created the Diversity Visa in 1990 to promote immigration from countries with supposedly “low rates” of immigration to the United States. These visas are awarded by lottery, with approximately 50,000 to 55,000 awarded each year. Those awarded Diversity Visas not only get admitted to the USA, they get lawful permanent resident status (green cards). Well over ten million foreigners apply for the Diversity Visa each year. Those who get in can then petition for their family members to be admitted to the USA as well. The program is antiquated, archaic, completely unnecessary, littered with fraud and poses a substantial national security risk.
